How can you be broken hearted and a contrite spirit when you are having fun and enjoying life in the World?

What's worth doing in life?
Where to spend your currency?
Why suffer through the rat race?
People talk about having Zion but people have no idea what that means and no idea how to get it going beyond just emotional speech and hot air expelling from one's mouth or calloused fingers from typing, yet, further and further from anything resembling Zion we keep moving as a people.
It's about survival. Just gotta keep surviving. But surviving for what?
"The speed with which all of them vanish — the objects in the world, and the memory of them in time. And the real nature of the things our senses experience, especially those that entice us with pleasure or frighten us with pain or are loudly trumpeted by pride. To understand those things — how stupid, contemptible, grimy, decaying, and dead they are — that’s what our intellectual powers are for. And to understand what those people really amount to, whose opinions and voices constitute fame. And what dying is — and that if you look at it in the abstract and break down your imaginary ideas of it by logical analysis, you realize that it’s nothing but a process of nature, which only children can be afraid of. (And not only a process of nature but a necessary one.)"
God has given us everything we need to survive and thrive in the world, within us. God has given us everything we need to overcome the obstacles of this world, within us, including overcoming death.

A big dose of realism seems like it should be liberating but it does nothing to help one along the path.
4:6 Jesus saith unto him, I am the way, the truth, and the life: no man cometh unto the Father, but by me.
These words came out of the mouth of Jesus so it says "Jesus saith". We though have learned that just because the Bible says that Jesus is said to have said something does not mean that Jesus said it. In the above passage it is the indwelling Father that was speaking. Jesus the man is not "the way, the truth, and the life". The indwelling Father is "the way, the truth, and the life". "no man cometh unto the Father (in heaven), but by me" does not refer to Jesus the man nor in our case to the indwelling Father that indwelt Jesus. "the way, the truth, and the life" for each of us is the Father that dwells in each of us that is not a tare. The only responsibility we have to ourselves is to provide a proper temple (ourself) for the indwelling Father to flourish. It is the indwelling Father that helps us produce a seed that may chance of wheat or some other grain and to each seed he will give a body at the resurrection as he pleases.
So all those other people around us that profess some kind of authority over us that we should listen to that do not live up to the promise have no responsibility from God to us in the least. And we have no responsibility to them. Our responsibility is only to the indwelling Father and what his will for us is. Looking at all the human failure around us is a distraction that has no good outcome for one's own salvation or future glory.
So says the Spirit. !

That is an interesting idea to contemplate. The Wicker Man wrote: ↑Wed May 03, 2023 6:18 am A big dose of realism seems like it should be liberating but it does nothing to help one along the path.

Growing up Mormon I was taught that you should keep yourself healthy because your body is a temple but it wasn't necessarily associated with the indwelling Spirit. So in theory you can be obese and have a proper temple for the Spirit.
Is providing a proper temple a matter of physical health, spiritual health, both, or something else?

This world is real but it isn't real in the sense that it represents what all of existence is.Finrock wrote: ↑Wed May 03, 2023 2:44 pmThat is an interesting idea to contemplate. The Wicker Man wrote: ↑Wed May 03, 2023 6:18 am A big dose of realism seems like it should be liberating but it does nothing to help one along the path.

I suppose I can only truly honestly speak only as one who knows my mortal body will die or that I am a man who is susceptible to having my body injured to such a degree that I die as far as death of the mortal body. My body is worn in many places. What I had at birth I no longer have. I have lost the integrity of my body and it suffers and it can be killed and so unless my faith in Christ is real, as far as my mortal body knows, and what my natural instincts that keep me alive tell me is that I am facing oblivion. That I am surviving and clinging to dear life simply so I can have an existence at all. Presumably being is better than no being.
So it seems preposterous from one level to say that this life isn't real and so if realism is "An inclination toward literal truth and pragmatism..." and we are saying life isn't real we are then saying what we experience as life is not the literal truth and not the most pragmatic approach.
That would lend to the idea that what we experience as life is only partially true or it is an illusion. An illusion is real, as in it has an existence, but it isn't literally real as to what the illusion aims to immitate.

Jefferson had an army of people finding things that don't work; unfortunately we are not so blessed and must rely on the providence of God. More months of of trial and error lie ahead, then fall colors will appear on the scene.
