(2028 rhymes with earthquake, but not earthquakes) 🐳

Leo and Aria said no, but Aria suggested “fate great” to what type of disaster rhymes with 2028?

Open a eye said: The type of disaster that rhymes with 2028 is "earthquake."

🗡️ (Partial, but not complete agreement)

The Day of the Lord

3 Dear friends, this is now my second letter to you. I have written both of them as reminders to stimulate you to wholesome thinking. 2 I want you to recall the words spoken in the past by the holy prophets and the command given by our Lord and Savior through your apostles.

3 Above all, you must understand that in the last days scoffers will come, scoffing and following their own evil desires. 4 They will say, “Where is this ‘coming’ he promised? Ever since our ancestors died, everything goes on as it has since the beginning of creation.” 5 But they deliberately forget that long ago by God’s word the heavens came into being and the earth was formed out of water and by water. 6 By these waters also the world of that time was deluged and destroyed. 7 By the same word the present heavens and earth are reserved for fire, being kept for the day of judgment and destruction of the ungodly.

8 But do not forget this one thing, dear friends: With the Lord a day is like a thousand years, and a thousand years are like a day. 9 The Lord is not slow in keeping his promise, as some understand slowness. Instead he is patient with you, not wanting anyone to perish, but everyone to come to repentance.

10 But the day of the Lord will come like a thief. The heavens will disappear with a roar; the elements will be destroyed by fire, and the earth and everything done in it will be laid bare.[a]

11 Since everything will be destroyed in this way, what kind of people ought you to be? You ought to live holy and godly lives 12 as you look forward to the day of God and speed its coming. That day will bring about the destruction of the heavens by fire, and the elements will melt in the heat. 13 But in keeping with his promise we are looking forward to a new heaven and a new earth, where righteousness dwells.

14 So then, dear friends, since you are looking forward to this, make every effort to be found spotless, blameless and at peace with him. 15 Bear in mind that our Lord’s patience means salvation, just as our dear brother Paul also wrote you with the wisdom that God gave him. 16 He writes the same way in all his letters, speaking in them of these matters. His letters contain some things that are hard to understand, which ignorant and unstable people distort, as they do the other Scriptures, to their own destruction.

17 Therefore, dear friends, since you have been forewarned, be on your guard so that you may not be carried away by the error of the lawless and fall from your secure position. 18 But grow in the grace and knowledge of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. To him be glory both now and forever! Amen.
Can't be said more clearly I don't think.

QUESTION:Which idea has more support in the Bible: 1. The idea that this creation will be destroyed or 2. that this creation will be renewed?
The Bible contains passages that support both the idea that this creation will be destroyed and the idea that it will be renewed, but the notion of destruction appears more prominent, especially in the context of eschatological (end-times) events.

1. Destruction of Creation:

2 Peter 3:10-12 speaks of the "heavens passing away with a roar," elements "dissolving" with intense heat, and the earth and everything in it being "burned up." This suggests a complete destruction of the current creation.

Revelation 21:1 speaks of a "new heaven and a new earth" after the "first heaven and the first earth had passed away." This passage emphasizes the end of the old creation.

2. Renewal or Restoration of Creation:

Romans 8:19-22 speaks of creation "groaning" and waiting for liberation from its "bondage to decay," implying that creation itself will be set free and restored in the future.

Isaiah 65:17 and Isaiah 66:22 refer to God creating new heavens and a new earth, but some interpret this as a renewal rather than total destruction.

While the Bible supports both destruction and renewal, the overarching theme leans more toward the idea that the current creation will undergo a form of destruction, followed by a new or renewed creation, whether it is understood as replacement or transformation.

COMMENT: To me it suggest that the old will be destroyed and something new will or has already been created. This whole creation was corrupted in the very beginning. This corruption is ingrained in all things. To cleanse it, all things completely corrupted will be burned by fire or dissolved. The seeds that are left that are not wheat will still have some corruption, but this corruption can be overcome during the millennium in New Jerusalem under the guidance of Christ and His wheat. Also the Antichrist spirit will not have It's influence interrupting of corrupting the process.
Your perspective fits well with the passages that emphasize the destruction or dissolving of the current creation, particularly those in 2 Peter 3:10-12 and Revelation 21:1, which both suggest the passing away of this world to make way for something new. The idea that the current creation is fundamentally corrupted from the beginning aligns with the concept of complete destruction being necessary for the creation of a new, uncorrupted world.

In your view, the cleansing fire or dissolution would be essential to removing all aspects of corruption, and this aligns with the biblical themes of purification by fire (e.g., Malachi 3:2-3, where God refines like a refiner’s fire). This fire or dissolution would eliminate everything irredeemably tainted, allowing only what is fit to remain—perhaps the seeds with some remnant of Christ’s influence, as you suggest.

Your interpretation of the millennium as a period of refining under Christ’s guidance, free from the influence of the Antichrist spirit, fits well with the biblical concept of a thousand-year reign described in Revelation 20:4-6. In that period, those who are faithful reign with Christ, and the Antichrist's influence is absent, as Satan is bound.

This process allows for those with some remaining corruption to be guided and refined, offering them the opportunity to overcome their corruption under the direct influence of Christ and His wheat. The Antichrist spirit being removed from this process fits with the prophecy of Satan’s binding during this time.

In this interpretation, the destruction of the corrupted creation makes way for the millennial period of renewal and preparation, leading to a purified new creation where corruption no longer has a place. It’s a coherent view, where destruction is the necessary step to allow for the true renewal of what is good.

COMMENT: So it's both, in a sense. Complete destruction of the tares, a new creation without corruption, and renewal of all things redeemable.
Yes, that interpretation harmonizes both aspects. Complete destruction is necessary to rid creation of the irredeemable tares and the corruption ingrained in all things, while the new creation is free from this corruption. Meanwhile, the renewal process applies to all that is redeemable—those seeds that still carry the potential for growth and refinement, especially during the millennium, under Christ's guidance. This way, both destruction and renewal play distinct but complementary roles in the divine plan.
