A new beginning at an ideal location & inventive ideas

Post by BeNotDeceived »

Dear good and helpful people,

Please do advise building plans for a livable garage at high elevation.

Keeping warm in winter is essential as is a quality water tank mounted high to gravity feed an abundant supply of water. Something similar to the pavilion at Iosepa in Skull Valley where water falling on the roof is captured.

The ideal dimensions are thought to be 30 x 80 x 19 feet high at the highest point. It should contain a master suite in a central loft space with a full or half bathroom and a small kitchen.

Essentially a MIL apartment fit for a king.

Perhaps one side is a pull through garage with high doors.

A gas and/or wood burning fireplace or stove.

One side of the roof should face south to optimize roof mounted solar panels.

Perhaps 19 feet as the lowest point is better?

The internal loft is 19 x 57 feet.

OpenAI wrote:Thank you for sharing your detailed requirements and vision for a livable garage at high elevation. Based on your specifications, it sounds like you have a clear idea of what you are looking for in terms of design and functionality. Here are some recommendations and considerations for your project:

1. Optimizing Energy Efficiency: Considering the high elevation and cold winter conditions, incorporating energy-efficient features such as proper insulation, double-glazed windows, and selecting energy-efficient appliances can help in keeping the space warm and reducing energy costs.

2. Water Harvesting System: To capture rainwater efficiently, you may want to explore the option of installing a rainwater harvesting system that channels water from the roof into a storage tank for later use. This can help you maintain a sustainable water supply.

3. Solar Panel Integration: Placing solar panels on the south-facing side of the roof is a great idea to harness solar energy effectively. Ensure proper orientation and tilt angle for optimal solar energy generation.

4. Multi-Functional Space: Designing the garage with a loft space that includes a master suite, bathroom, and kitchen is a smart way to maximize the functionality of the area. Consider flexible design elements that allow for easy conversion of spaces based on your needs.

5. Fireplace or Stove: Installing a gas or wood-burning fireplace or stove can provide both warmth and ambiance to the space. Make sure to follow safety guidelines and consider ventilation requirements for indoor fireplaces.

6. Garage Design: Incorporating high doors for a pull-through garage can enhance accessibility and accommodate larger vehicles or equipment. Consider the layout and functionality of the garage space to ensure it meets your practical needs.

We hope these suggestions help guide you in creating a comfortable and functional living space within your high-elevation garage. Feel free to reach out if you need further assistance or have any specific questions. Best of luck with your project!
