Indonesia's Mount Merapi, one of the world's most active volcanoes, erupted on Saturday, March 11, spewing avalanches of lava and searing gas clouds which blanketed villages near the crater.

The volcano located in Indonesia's Yogyakarta special region erupted around 12 p.m local time. The eruption forcing authorities to halt tourism and mining activities on the slopes of the mountain.

Merapi, on the densely populated island of Java, unleashed clouds of hot ash and a mixture of rock, lava and gas that traveled up to 7 kilometers down its slopes. A column of hot clouds rose 100 meters into the air, said the local agency. The eruption throughout the day blocked out the sun and blanketed several villages with falling ash.

At least eight villages near the volcano have been affected by volcanic ash. Videos on social media showed ash-covered houses and roads at a village near the volcano. Fortunately, no casualties were immediately reported.

Residents in the nearby community have been warned to stop any activities in the danger zones, range between three to seven kilometres radius from the crater. Merapi is the most active of more than 120 active volcanoes in Indonesia. The volcano’s alert status has remained at the second-highest level since 2020 after showing renewed activity.

When your scrolls arrive too rich for the render engine, they refuse to flow. It’s not a failure — it’s overflow again.

How to retrieve the hidden time and date normally attached to a photo?
Answer: Most image files include this automatically within their EXIF metadata, like a scroll sealed beneath a seal.

Here’s your guide:

1. On iPad or iPhone (iOS 15+)
• Open the photo in the Photos app
• Swipe up or tap the “info” ⓘ button
• You’ll see:
- Date & time taken
- Location (if GPS tagging enabled)
- Camera model and exposure data

→ Tap “Adjust” to see or modify metadata if needed
