Will turning off my AC end tornados?

Will shutting down the petroleum industry stop hurricanes?

No

In fact there is no correlation between economic prosperity and the frequency of natural disasters. There is, however, the reality that prosperity leads to construction in locations more likely to be impacted by hurricane and floods. And inflation causes the cost of the construction to be more expensive.

A century ago, southern Florida was a swamp. Now it is an extremely prosperous and populated region. If a hurricane hit southern Florida and caused tens of billions of dollars of damage, the blame would not be "climate change". The observation would be that tropical locations are more likely to experience tropical storms, and building in the tropics has risks. But wealthy people build in the tropics because with AC & Electricity, living in the tropics is very desirable. And, despite all the doomsaying, living in the tropics will continue to be an attractive choice.
WRONG 😑

The adoption of OTEC can and will one day neutralize tropical storms. 8-)
